Next generation sequencing and de novo transcriptome analysis of Tanacetum cinerariifolium

Description

Pyrethrins are natural insecticidal monoterpenoids consists of either a chrysanthemic acid or pyrethric acid with a rethrolone moiety. Inspite of its industrial attributes most of the enzymes and genes involved in the pyrethrin biosynthesis pathway remains uncharacterized. Since the major pyrethrins are present in the flower of T. cinerariefolium our study is focused on the de novo transcriptome comparison of flower versus leaf tissues. To identify the molecular signatures in the transcriptome related to pyrethrin biosynthetic pathway, next generation transcriptome Sequencing was used.
